Enjoyed reading that. Still relevant, it has aged well over those ten years. I have never subscribed to Libertarianism, although I agree with some of its precepts. Except for my youth when I was attracted to liberal ideas, I've always been a Christian conservative. I've held that that is the best way to travel this life.
Father is with us here with us and even dwelling inside we who are His loyal children. He offers us His discipline of walking in His Spirit with His spirit abiding in us. I am so thankful for all His teachings for us.
Rod, great article on Libertarianism vs Conservatism. I've intuitively known that I wasn't a full-blown Libertarian, although I agree with some of there tenants. You articulated well what I never fully understood about Libertarianism. As both a Conservative and a committed Christian, I fully understand, observe &, sadly, embody, the fall and sinfulness of mankind. (Although I'm so grateful for God's redeeming and sanctifying grace!). Thanks for articulating the key differences between Libertarians, Conservatives and Conservative Christians.
Politically, I have long wished the two main parties were Conservative vs Libertarian (the Democrat Party now being just an organized criminal and subversive organization). We could have real political debates instead of sound bite contests, over the degree of maximum liberty vs government-imposed limits. It may be that debate will never resolve the ideal balance between the two, as we conservatives operate from the premise of fallen human nature which most Libertarians will not grant as real, or at least not compelling enough to trump virtually unrestricted liberty. Still, I imagine healthy, civil, constructive political discourse, along with making a few converts in the process!

Indeed.
Nice piece. Pragmatic and well-stated.
It made me thankful that our Founding Fathers accepted the reality of original sin, and made calculations for its creep into government.
